So, you’re all scheduled to move to the great capital of the great state of California. You can go to Kings games, enjoy the access to California’s beauty with central state location and eat at tons of great restaurants. The only question is: are you organized for your move? When it comes to moving, we are experts. So, here are a few tips to help you get and stay organized. This way you’ll be ready to hit the ground running when you get there!
It’s time to clean house. It may be painful to let go of those stained t-shirts and that TV with a built in VHS player in your laundry room, but you simply must purge as much as you can before you move. It may hurt at first, but when you’re actually moving your stuff, you will be so thankful that you downsized that you won’t miss a thing.
The absolute best way to organize your move is to get enough of the right sized boxes. No trash bags! Seriously, you can lose a friend’s moving help for life if you’re not careful. They pick up a large, unmarked box and throw their back out because it’s full of books and you’ll be moving by yourself from now on. Get small boxes for heavy items like dishes and books and use bigger boxes for things like pillows and sweaters.
You can mark your boxes with ‘Kitchen’ and ‘Bedroom,’ but you’re going to have to dig through every one of your boxes to find the coffee maker on the first morning in your new place if you do that. Mark each box with a number as well as the room in which it belongs. On a separate sheet of paper, write down what is in the box that corresponds with that number. That way if you’re not ready to unpack all of your boxes the first day, you’re in your new place because you’re also starting a new job, then you can get to what you need quickly and unpack gradually if need be.
These tips should help you stay more organized in your move to Sacramento, so you can save time and frustration and jump right into enjoying your new city.
